I'm treating my oscar for HITH. Should I remove the cat fish that is on the same tank? or is he ok inside the tank with the medication?
I've been treating The O for a couple of days. It doesn't seem like its bothering him, but I wanted to make shure.

If you have a selection of fish and you are about to medicated tank, it's always a good idea just to read the instructions thoroughly. Some medications can harm scaleless fish such as Clown Loach, and some catfish. I think there are only a few medications that you have to be careful with, some of them are copper-based. However, it should tell you in the instructions if there are fish that are sensitive to certain medications.

What are you treating with?

The best treatment for hith is clean water, i normally don't bother with meds except in extreme cases (i've only dealt with hith once on my own accord, but i get a lot of rescue fishes that have it). Because if you cure it with meds, and you water is still the same, he will only get hith again..

if the HITH is in the early stage, pristine water and varied foods
usually do the tricks. in my tank, i never had HITH yet..... but with
my client, i had some but can be clear by just adding salt and change
the water. there are times that my plant boxes are being barrowed to
help them keep the water under check.

Thanks guys. Im putting the same medications I used beffore the only difference is that I didn't have the cat fish in there the first time. The medication is called Hole-N-Head Guard. Here is a link for you to see how it looks like. www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/Prod_Display.cfm?pcatid=4821

It doesn't say anthing about other fish. Thats why I was asking, about the cat fish(Common pleco).

Thanks again

I had to treat our 9 1/2 Tiger O and he was in a tank with a 9 1/2" spoon mouth catfish. When I treated the tank the catfish's body started protecting it self vi sending out BI-product like no tommorrow. I believe because they are invertebrates their bodies will try and fight off the med. In my case I had to choose which one to move from the tank and I chose the Big tiger baby. good luck
