different region, different people around the world give oscar different names. a white tiger oscar for some will be lutino to others. the shade of green with red marking is called green tiger, the plain red as red but white oscar is very conflicting.

picture below will give you the idea of what i am trying to say:

some people call this as green oscar:

this one as white tiger or lutino tiger

and this one as white but not lutino or albino

if its bright green.. then either its dyed or it might be a different chichlid.. if its very light green it might just be a regular tiger oscar

oscars come in many colour morph like paul said lutino, tiger, red, lemmon, and wild. and each different colour morph also come with different fin lenght. these are called long fin or veil tail oscars.

the olive green colour is a base colour of most oscars and is completely natural. vibrant colour on the other hand are not.(blues, fireengine reds ect..)if in doubt about an oscars colour ask if it has been dyed and if you cant get an answer from the seller then take a pic and post it here. im sure someone will help inidentifying it.
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!

Wild oscars are often called 'green' Oscars because of the deep olive green that covers much of there body. Also a few oscars are dyed green (don't buy dyed fish, btw) but these are rare. Normally you'll see them around christmas time... with the dyed red ones...

you can normally tell if its dyed or not, "un-dyed" will be a drab olive green, dyed ones will be a very bright green.

no it is not the clown. that picture was taken in 2003 and posted by the owner "tiellover" in one forum. since i am obsessed in collecting good pictures of oscars, i keep them in my files. i am not sure if it is still alive after 6 years. the white oscar (not lutino) is now two years old, 15 inches long. they stop growing lenghtwise, they grow sidewise (more than 3 inches thick)
