So after not being able to have a fish tank for years, I finally have the time and the room to start building a community again. I am looking to see where a good place to find a Zebra Oscar? They look pretty amazing and I had never seen them before.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I have never heard of a Zebra Oscar. Are you sure what you are thinking of is an oscar?

After further research, i guess you are thinking of a zebra oscar. I have never seen those anywhere. I guess you best bet of obtaining one would be through the internet.

i do not want to be mean but those zebra is just a marketing ploy again. a juvenile having that color pattern will definitely change as they grow and eventually turn out to be a tiger oscar. check the pattern and compare to this.

that picture is not mine... it was own by hobbyist in Kentucky who
happen to breed a black tiger and a lutino. unfortunately, he was
by strong storm that kill all his fishes but one. i am not sure if
he was able to retrieve the same specie he distributed to some of
his friends for sentimental reason.

unique name names are mostly marketing ploy. a good sample is the
"world map oscar". where in the world can you find it?????? but if
you have a good black tiger with vibrant red markings that scattered
all over, any groupings could turn out to be a map if the marketer
creates the notion.... and give you unrealistic price....

zebra oscars from my research have all turned out to be tiger oscars. fish stores lable these to increase revenue move more stock.
the only thing imo that i would consider calling a zebra oscar would be an Astronotus crassipinnis and this would be due to the white stripping on both the juvenile and adult fish.

just my opinion

btw welcome to the site

since front really dont look anything like oscars i think a mix up is unlikely. many pet store do lable some oscars as zebras but like i said its a marketing ploy only.

btw adam could you please not type in caps its difficult to read and is considered bad etiquette in forums.
