we were woke @ sunrise to a loud noise. we ran down stairs and the tank was empty!
I moved the canister to see in back of the 55 base and there he lay! I couldn't reach him so I quick grabbed the long fish net and moved him out so my husband could pick him up:ohmy: he was was flopping everywhere! i took this pic of him. i can't see the right side of him b/c he is staying in this corner...

with any luck his journey to the floor will not have any lasting effects on him. the markings on his left side seem superficial(from the pic) and should heal quickly.

many people have had oscars jump from their tanks and this is why we recommend a secure lid on your aquarium.

hopefully he will be alright and no permiment damage has been done.

your readings seem ok to me. the only concern i have is with your ammonia reading. i would recommend a 25% water change and keep am eye on your ammonia to make sure it doesnt spike on you. ammonia is the most lethal of the main three toxins and any reading should be viewed with concern.

Scary moments! I read in this site about them jumping out. I'm glad that you were able to save your Oscar. Bruises seem superficial. Hopefuly this is a lesson learned for the Oscar.

that was really a very scary moment....

if ever there is hidden injury, it would show
2 to 3 days, the eyes will show something blurry
which should not cause you any alarm.... it is
basically due to the impact against the floor

just want you to be aware of it so that you will
not panic if ever it will show.

as i have said, it should not cause you any alarm...

heal in no time.

ok 8 hrs since his jump, he is eating and swimming. the right eye looks puffy compared to the other side, i think he can see with it now, i did have my doubts earlier.. his body has seen better days, it looks like he has been in cat fight

if hes eating and swimming around as normal then i would think he will be alright. just keep your water in good shape and everything will probably be fine.
