I was just at the bait shop and picked up small earthworms and THEY LOVE THEM! Just curious how about crickets? The bait shop sells them too but they said they were "big." If I try them do I have to rip out the legs and wings? (Poor guys! )

Suppose it depends how big your Oscars. Even a little Oscar has got quite a big mouth. You'll be surprised what they can get in there. I am actually going to get some crickets myself and see if my Oscars like them. They like most things, can't see them turning their noses up

Just about any bug you are sure is pesticide free is good Oscar food. Tomato worms, earth worms, crickets, gypsie moths, lizards, roaches, rolly pollies, stink bugs, june bugs, meal worms, small fish, small cats, children under 1yr (unless being used for a tax write off) Expirement with the foods for your O's the more stuff you feed them while they are growing the better. Within reason of coarse, they aren't big on pizza but I had one that loved peperoni & sausage off of pizza. (as snacks only. The tank was in my room and when I was eating the O did too or I got wet, realy wet!!!!)
Things not good to try, bolagna, hot dogs, dog food, greasy meats cloud water and slime up the glass. Fish don't digest mamal fats very well so back off on them. And finally cotton candy like the number five is right out wrong!!!!

AAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA. Omg, I laughed so hard. I'm still giggling...... Oh dear. Yes, oscars will eat anything, unless he's scared of it!!! I gave a huge wood worm to my oscar and he was terrified of it. I had to chop it up for him, chicken! Just think if oscars lived in the wild, in a nice little pool somewhere, they'd eat anything that fell in, and yes, including small children!!! Hahahaha.

Its hard to fly like an eagle when you are surrounded by turkeys

i give my adult oscar crickets. he likes them but he hates worms. i could not beleave it. i had to dig it out of the tank. but wen i go out to my garden if i see a bug in there i catch it and he eats it. pest free garden full belly oscar. hehe not a bad deal.

I must try my oscars on crickets. Could be fun to watch

One of my oscars doesn't like something about worms, he gets it in the mouth then spits it out then one of the others eats it. I think its the wriggling he dont like!!! The rest love worms!!!

When its daddy long legs season (crane fly) i pull a wing off so they cant fly away and chuck them in. The oscars love them

Any insects you get chuck them in and your oscar should eat them, its natural for oscars to eat insects
