Well having problems with Aquaristik online store... no answers about the pump problem and so this is still waiting to start the tank setup...

Meanwhile I've finished the setup of my other tank... Orandaworld here: www.oscarfishlover.com/forum/33-all-other-aquatic-chat/275081-orandaworld?start=30

I´m loving the final result of Orandaworld so... once with Astro I'll never be able to have such a nice look and plants what can I do?

MAYBE! JUST MAYBE! I'm considering a different setup for this large tank... No Oscar! :( and instead of all the large cichlids maybe some smaller ones or at least that accept plants like valisnerias, anbias and java ferns because they are easy to care...

For an 180gal setup what species average sized can I keep in this tank? Just thinking about this...

Keeping a pair of severums with some geophagus and corys and a group of tetras is possible with plants isn´t it?

And about cold water ciclids? Gymnophagus have some interesting species...

HELP ME HERE!

severums are know to bash up plants just like oscars (and are likely to eat small tetras). Geophagus will dig them up. So neither helps much in getting plants growing.

I'm having luck with plants in an oscar tank, but they're not pristine specimens, they do take a beating.

What about a knife fish? A black ghost knife fish will love plants, and is a very interesting fish to keep. They also learn to eat out of your fingers, but they are quite a bit more shy when it comes to people.

If you're feeling up for it, some discus are worth suggesting.

Angelfish, gouramis, tetras could work.

Bolivian rams, or german blue rams would be lovely.

Keyhole cichlids, flag cichlids are both worth mentioning.

Do pike cichlids also dig up everything?

Rainbowfish, in big schools, are also beautiful.

Cold 12/14º

Don´t know much about sevs... thought that plants should be ok with them...

I want a good looking tank and a few plants always make it better looking.

Cold water ciclids are these Gymnogeophagus meridionalis and Australis for example: www.tfhmagazine.com/details/articles/gymnogeophagus-the-glittering-eartheaters-of-the-far-south.htm

Just not getting a good setup...

Thinking on geos Altifrons, red head, Proximus, but not shure they won't destroy plants because they are diggers...

Well AQUABEE factory is sending a new impeller soon :) But Aquaristik the online shop that made the sale is on the black list for me, not even one answer after 4 or 5 e-mails...

ABOUT the setup... searching and searching for the kind of fish I like and still have some doubts... Astro is almost out (shame on me) but it´ss impossible to keep a clean and pretty tank with a few plants on, with him... so a pair of Rockteil Sevs and/or a pair of Chocolate ciclids plus a small group of geophagus red head tapajos and a Bristol nose pleco and a clown pleco, that´s what is more of my favorite setup for now...

In a few days I'll get the impeller and after a few weeks cycling, I'll buy the fishes.

Any comments?
