TOPIC: Odd behaiviour

Odd behaiviour 3 years, 1 month ago #29941

About 2 week ago my husband added fake plants to the tank with our oscar because he was told they like to have palces to hide. She immediatly did not like the plants and proceeded to pull them all over and out of her way, we thought she was done rearanging but now she is butting one of the larger ornaments that are in there and pushing it across the tank. This just started 2 days ago. Could this be because she still doesnt like the plants in there? Should we take them out?

how big and how old is your oscar?
oscars are known for ripping plants, fake or natural.
now, moving anything inside the tank is another thing.
put any slate inside and if he/she clean it, then that
is a sign of maturing oscar.

my oscars do the same with both plants and decoration. the plants they jsut take a dislike to and remove them. the smmall decorations they knock over and push around the tank. they even do this with the large peices of driftwood(well they try).......

i wouldnt worry about from my experience with oscar this is normal behavior
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!

lol ok good, i have seen her dig a hole in the middle of the tank over and over again but i didnt realize she would go to this extent lol. Ruby is about a year old and 8 inches long. With the ornament she is pushing around it is usually on the left hand side of the tank which is where my convict usually hides. After we put the plants in there she went from hanging out on the right hand side of the tank to the left so i guess she just decided to take over that side and doesnt like my decorating skills lol. I think this is one of the reasons i like oscars so much, I have never had a fish with so much personality!!

you will know more as he/she matured. one territorial
domain was established, no one could come near to that
area especially during spawning. if you decide to
re-arrange the tank, she will even attack your hand.
