Well really want an oscar and like jd but open to suggestions really don't think other half would be happy with a tank that size with one fish as it's in living room but don't want to overstock thanks

that's roughly 120Gal - the foot print will be nice a single oscar due to the 4 feet width .... not saying the O and JD will not work. Just not enough for both fish regarding to the swim space.

so your looking for a few larger cichlids that could live together.

In that case, a Jack dempsey might be too aggressive for an oscar, but it all depends on that specific fish. Any other fish you might want to keep with an Oscar could help.

While a 120g volume is decent for a couple of cichlids, the 4ft footprint is restrictive for Oscar plus something else. You also dont need a pair of 300w Jagers. I use a pair on a 265g, and singles handle 180g tanks just fine. They are a potent heater. If you are certain that you want an Oscar, another tankmate should be non-cichlid. Raph cat, medium sized pleco. I wouldnt put a school of SD either, could stress the Oscar.

Would a 5x2x2 give me much more options as I don't want a tank that size with 1 or 2 fish in I don't want like a big community tank but would like a few different fish in there thanks
