Welcome to our little community. I bet you are excited about your new fish? So just less than three weeks. Can I assume that you have been preparing your tank? So, what tank, filtration have you got? I think it's best to make sure everything is absolutely right before your Oscar comes, that way we can try and avoid any problems.

I may not always be right, but I am always the BOSS :-)

Hello seniors

As you can see i am in living in Kerala, India. I am confined to very little things to take care of my fish in the place where i am living. I have seen many people without even knowing what an oscar cichlid is, buying a pair putting them in 30 gallon tanks. Only a few know bout the things. Giving it enough space to live is one of the very few things i can do for it.

hi there

1. ts, you don't need heater for the oscar in your place.
2. i believe kerala is hot enough.
3. however, what you require is a good water conditioner.
4. i can understand what you are going through, butterflies in the stomach for the oscar.
5. so do i whenever i see a baby oscar.

Hey streetsmart73

I cant understand. Is kerala having that hot climate? I am keeping in my home. If it is hot enough , I can save a lot of electricity. Thanks for your advice. Can you tell me how to use the filter of a cycled tank to cycle the new aquarium?

hi there

1. tambi, just make sure you wash the old filter materials before using them for the new tank.
2. you may try releasing live feeders to test whether the new tank is ready.
3. during which the tank must be fully aerated.
4. use a reliable & good water conditioner.
5. btw, it was part of my portfolio visiting india.
