I am using good quality groundwater (natural with no chemicals). So is a water conditioner necessary? The well water is not polluted.

Nope, but the problem is the water chemistry. the pH, dH, etc. might affect the oscar negatively.

well water is normally ok for fish assuming you don't have any ammonia nitrite nitrate in it and your PH isn't really high or really low

messing with your ph will often cause more harm than good so like i said unless you have a really high or really low ph you shouldn't really worry about it

I cant understand. Is kerala having that hot climate? I am keeping in my home. If it is hot enough , I can save a lot of electricity. Thanks for your advice. Can you tell me how to use the filter of a cycled tank to cycle the new aquarium?

Kerala should be plenty hot enough, except possibly during the winter months at night, but even then it should be ok. Temp. should stay in the 78-86 F (25-30 C) range, can go lower, but less than 72 (21 c) is not a good idea.

If you use old filter media then make sure to rinse it in used tank water or the well water, which has no chlorine or other chemicals) which will destroy the bacteria colony.

I would be interested to see your setup with filters, etc. Can you upload any photos? Welcome to the forum! :woohoo:

Senior

i come with a bad news. Today, i was informed that a 4 ft tank cannot be made for my oscar. i dont want to make my oscar suffer but i am totally sad about the matter. I have no other choice but to buy a 3ft*1ft*1.5ft tank for now. Will buy the 4 ft when its affordable( most probably after 1 year ). Hope it will thrive in that. I will give the best care i can give to my oscar

You must hold out until a 4ft 75gal minimum tank becomes available. 3ft of any volume is no for any Oscar of any size.
