G6DDS created the topic: Going on holiday

I'm going on holiday for 2 weeks this coming Friday and need some advice on leaving my Oscar.
He/she is in a 100 uk gal tank filtered by an FX6, approx 10 inches long. My current water change schedule is 75% every Wed and Sun
I done my usual 75% water change on Sunday, will do another one Wed and then a 90% on Friday morning before i go.
My mother in law is coming to feed my sons community tank but i'm not sure if i should get her to feed my Oscar?
Will 2 weeks be too much? Should i tell her to feed him/her after week 1?

Any advice greatly appreciated

In their natural habitat, oscars sometimes will not be able to catch their prey. I heard that there is a time when oscars do not get any food to eat and they have to endure hunger for weeks. You can leave your oscar without food for 2 or 3 weeks. But make sure u put the filter on always.

Your Oscar will not starve in 2 weeks, but since someone is coming to tend to another tank, I would set out a specific amount of pellets and have mum in law drop them in 2 or 3 times while you are away.
