Belinda created the topic: Oscar breathing normally but floating on side at top of tank.

Good evening.

I was wondering if anyone could give me some advise as to why my Oscar is behaving this way. My husband changed the water in the tank today and now our Oscar is breathing normally but is on its side floating at the top of the tank. My husband thinks he may have put too much oxygen in the water and the Oscar has a big air pocket in its stomach. When you push the Oscar down into the tank it swims like normal but soon floats back to the top. Any advise as to why this is happening would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

it will be difficult to give sound advise without seeing how the fish swim....
it can be a swim bladder disease or maybe just being shock by the water change.
