Hi,
Are there differant varietes in the Tigger Oscars?
I ask because my friends adult is nearly completely black with only a few scales of very pale orange, my 5" Tiger has a pretty good covering of very bright orange stripes running about half way up his body [the upper colouring is just black and grey stripes], and in the petshop yesterday I saw some baby's about 2" long that already had brilliant bright orange stripes from the top of the fish right to the bottom.
So are these differant varietes, or do the differant fish end up with differant colour mutations and its just a case of luck of the draw if you order the fish, or picking the best looking fish at the shop [baby's included]
thanks.

Their color changes as they grow, some keep a lot of orange and some lose it all. Mine has lost almost all of his, he had a perfect C on his side now it's all gone
If you can't beat them...arrange to have them beaten!

In my experience yes, as babies they're kind of dark then orange up then it will fade.

i dont know if most colourfull is the right term for it. my oscars are still vibrant and patterned but the pattern itself has changed since they were small.

i think the best way to describe would be there patterns changes as they age.
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!

I don't know if they get more colorful but some don't lose their color or lose very little. Mine is gonna be convict colored soon if he don't learn to stay outta jail !
