Hi everyone,

I've got 3 oscars around 3'inches long. I've been feeding them hikari gold pellets in the mornings & bloodworms in the afternoon & night which they seem to love. I give them 1 cube each of bloodworm. today when I went to the pet store to get some more bloodworms, the pet store guy advised me against giving my oscars too much blood worms. Can someone please tell me what is the right amount of bloodworms I should be offering my oscars?

Blood worm is a natural food for many fish. All fish love blood worm, I've never known a fish not to like them. I would actually be feeding pellets a couple of times a day, with blood worm as a supplement. With the pellets, feed much as they can eat in two or three minutes and then stop.

When I feed my fish bloodworm, I always defrost it so it all breaks up and all the fish are able to forage for it, I like them to do this as I believe it's more natural and gives them something to do rather just hanging around waiting to be fed.

angmat.... funny you say that because i was at my LFS the other day and the bloke told me the same thing, he said to me ''is that for oscars by any chance'' and when i said yes, he said ''you'll be better with beefheart or prawns or something else because bloodworm can mess up the oscars digestive system and stop them from going to the toilet.''
i payed no attention and still bought them but i must admit, it did get me thinking.

well just a quick update, Ive avoided bloodworms yesterday & only stuck to pellets. they took the pellets well in the morning like they always do but for the other meals they didn't seem as interested in pellets, were they expecting bloodworms like I normally give them later in the day?? this is damn confusing!

should I just stick to my feeding routine of pellets & bloodworms everyday?
