Hi,
I have 1 black tiger & 1 red oscar, they both seem to get along really well, I was thinking of adding a lutino tiger & have read that they are less agro than the regular black tiger & reds, can anyone tell me if there is any truth that the lutino tigers are less agro, because even @ 5-6" long, my other 2 get so excited sometimes, that I end up pulling bleeding fingers out of the tank after hand feeding them.
thanks for any help.

temprement depends on the individual fish........theres nothing i know about differing strains of oscar being milder mannered than others ......and 3 is a very bad number for oscars ..especialy when your talking about 6" fish....one of them is realy going to suffer......just my opinion tho

i agree with bgh, i have tigers, reds, and lutinos and i have not noticed any difference in temperment between them.
as for 3 oscars in a tank this is not the best of ideas. if you end up with a pair the third will be bullied and beaten to no end. and if you end up with all males then the battle for dominace will be ferocious.

Thanks guys,
After your advice, even though i'd like a lutino, i'll leave it at the 2 I already have, they behave like piranas anyway, so I dont want to drop a victim into the tank as you seem to sugest may be the result.
thanks for the help.

I don't know about specific oscar types having different temperament I have had multiple red/tiger oscars in the past and they have ranged from fighters to lovers. (The pair I have are inseperable). But in terms of 3 oscars, 3's a crowd imo.

LOL I can't keep 3 oscars, cause if something goes wrong I wouldn't have a place to put the third one. I am in a dorm room afterall and it is really crowded with a gigantic 75 gallon taking up my desk space.

better stick with two and exchange one if both are male. easier option later.
oscar usually have different modes and characters. i have two
small oscar that are now showing aggressiveness which
i never experience in my two huge white pair.

i have 5 oscars and one being a lutino. her name is pinky and i can tell you in my situation there is no truth to that. Pinky is always giving the 5-6in oscars a run for their money. she isnt scared at all and will not hesitate to take a chunk out of my terror. and if any one has had the opportunity to own a green terror then you know that it's out of the ordinary for a terror to run away from an oscar that is smaller than the terror! my little pinky is a soldier, and i do believe that she is more hardy than the others in the tank. all of my fish are showing signs of hith except pinky.
what everyone else is saying about the amount of oscars you should keep are true. you ahould have one or no less than 5 or 6 in a group or the weak one will be bludgeoned constantly!
