It could just be that he's a little frightened. Remember that many creatures pretend to be dead if they are frightened, if your oscar is remaining motionless when you get near the tank, this could be the case.

However, if the fish act strangely for long periods of time, it could well be water conditions that are the cause of this behavior. If the fish feels unwell, it's not going to be active

The other telltale signs of problems is when fish breathe heavily

i think you should wait for a while.. its just natural for it to do these things

yeh dude mine did the same till i bought him a friend.. after that he was fine.. so either get him a friend or wait until he recognizes that ur the person who feds him.. then he should b fine.. unless like the others said u have an underlying problem

my little Survivor always stays behind the pump when i discover him
and keep doing it for a while. today, he always splash in the front
glass whenever he see me or anyone coming. always begging for foods.

just keep your water under check and it will be active in no time.

okay thanks. so it'll take days to adjust? when i feed him i leave the pellets then i go away. that's when he'll start eating. but he's eating for sure. he even almost ate one of my tiger barbs.

then that is a good sign. but make sure you come back after 5 minutes
and removed unconsumed foods to lessen bioloads.

good luck

yeah i get the left-overs after a few minutes. but it seems to stress him. when i do it he goes to the bottom part of the tank and stops swimming.weird fish. i can't wait for him to be active and lively.

and btw small tiger barbs aren't good tankmates. haha. i'm glad that the poor one he had in his mouth didn't die.

thanks for all the help!
