Now I know I have a female. She has laid eggs, and is very protective over them. The eggs are a tan color. Should I go ahead and remove the eggs? Or will she lose interest in them and stop being aggressive over them?

If she has no mate, and your ABSOULUTLEY SURE, then the eggs have nothing in them, but yolk. She doesn't know that though:lol:

She may well eat the eggs after a few days. If she doesn't, she will lose interest and not bother with them so just remove them.

I always thought unfertilized eggs went white. They certainly did when i bred convicts? And they knew it because they would pick them off to stop them getting fungus and it spreading to the other eggs. Might be different with oscars tho

There has never been another fish in the tank with this Oscar, so I know the eggs can't be fertilized, yet they are a tan color, not white. It has been 2 days now, and she is still protective of them. So cool.....

I've had a pair of females spawn before. The eggs will slowly get a darker and darker tan/gray untill they begin to wither. I never left the eggs lay there for more than a few days. Generally less than a week. They will eventually wither up. Once this happens they are harder to remove from whatever surface they are stuck too. Enjoy the show man, but don't let the rotting eggs foul up your water.
Keeping fish is only as hard as you choose to make it.
