Has anyone ever had any?

I live in South Florida, and have seen them in one fish store or another. Someone told me the don't get as big, and are more timid. Any thoughts on these fish?
People call me Donnie. I've got one Tiger O in a 55USG.

even though i have not owned a wild caught i have reseached them and have not found anything saying they do not grow as large as aquarium oscars. they do not however have the colourations of a bred o since they would stand out in the wild like that and would be food before they grew to any real size.

personally i find them to be drab in colour and dont find them overly appealing but that could be just me.
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!

They have the same care, requirements, etc- probably because they are the same species.

Wild oscars are often more expensive, however, and do not contain the vivid coloration of captive bred oscars.

hi there i own 1 wild oscar and its quite a nice fish when i first put him in the tank he was really shy and only would eat if no one was in the room his color isnt very bright hes just a green with tan lines on him with a O thats orange and black i got him when he was about 3 inches long and knw after 3 months hes pushing 6. I can pet the oscar and my son thats 1.5 years old can hand feed him i thinks hes a better fish then the other 2 i have there a tiger and a red. but i would go for it there hard to find and the idea of having a wild cought oscar is kinda cool

personally i would love to get som wild oscars but it's almost impossible to buy in sweden. the thing i heard about them is that they are more aggressive than the cultured oscar.

Here in Holland tha wild Ones are quite common.
When I went to get mine they had one tank with white-orange ones, one tank with wild O's and one with some reds.
I went for the red O...
If you see them in tanks next to each other the wild ones are a bit dull and seem to become less fat.
Our fish don't grow too big, our tank becomes too small!

in vic, Aus we have a huge cooling pond for the powerstation. this is were most fish shop fish end up when they are no longer wanted... ive been fishing there and caught heaps of wild oscars... many have been cross bred with other fish store varieties (red devil etc) and i put about 5 of these fish in a tank together... they were highly aggressive towards one another, with one fish picking off the others till it was the last remaining... i took this fish to the fish shop and said it came from a friend and we no longer wanted it. The owner took it home and put it in her tank... went to check up on it coupla weeks later and she said it was doing fine... no longer aggressive.. mustve need a change of scenery
other pets are my colt (Freddo Frog), my staffy (Tank) and my boxer x,(Steph)
