Hi,
About 4 days ago my 2 oscars both had some damage when I checked them in the morning.
One had some damage to a side fin and the other had what looked like a horseshoe shaped bite behind its head and on its tail, I have never seen these fish attack each other and I watch them a fair bit, I also have 2 gold spot plecs about the same size as the oscars {5-6"} and have seen one of the plecs swim upto the oscars and suction over them a little bit, could the plec have done the damage during the night, or is that something they wouldn't do?
thanks for any help.

Yes, these fish can creep up on sleeping fish and latch onto them. Fish sometimesdevelop spherical shaped ulcers because of this very reason. This is one reason why I would never have one of these fish, I don't like them, and I wouldn't have one

I have 2 in 2 different tanks and I wish I didn't have them. They make much more mess than they clean up and they do bother the other fish. Anyone want a pleco??

definitely its a plec mess. pelcs can do more more damage
than good cleaning aside from adding the bioloads. oscar do
sleep at night and that is the opportunity for the plecs to
attack. if the plec's mouth was able to anchor to the side of
your oscar, it is good enough to draw out the intestine and have
feast on it. can you imagine what will happen to your O????

I'm gonna follow your example and get rid of mine too, I never did get attached to them like I do the fish.
