I would put them into the bigger tank now. If you get the bigger tank up and running(make sure it is cycled correctly) And you add the fish although small, the bio loads will be way less. You will have less frequent water changes. not to mention you will not run the risk of stunting their growth.

I know it seems like over kill but they will be better off in the bigger tank now....

BTW welcome!

Just FYI!! It takes 45 -50 days to cycle a tank. Unless you run your cycled filter in the new tank and place all water from your existing tank into the new one!

oscar in a small tank never grows. they just die young.
so please put them in the bigger tank if already available.

three months ago, i had 2 x 2 pairs of oscars x 1.5 inches size,
1 pair was released in 110 gal tank while the other pair was
released in 29 gal tank. the two that were released in 29 gal
tank never grows while the two that were released in 110 gal
grows fast. when i transfer the two from the small tank to the
110 tank, would you you believe the other one was taken as dinner
by the one in the bigger tank, the reason i name him Gluton. as of
today, the remaining one is just as one fourth the size of Gluton
and stays with Survivor in my 90 gal tank.
