If you've done a recent water change or moved things around in the tank he could be letting you know that he don't like it. Are his eyes clear? Any fungus or ick? How is he breathing? What size tank? How is he eating?
If you can't beat them...arrange to have them beaten!

In my experience it was my pleco that made the tank smell at times. He was a filthy little creature. Keep an eye on him, pleco's have been known to suck on sleeping fish. My small catfish killed one of my Jack's that way so now I don't have either one. Does it still smell after a water change? Do you use conditioner? Salt?

Well he is letting you know that he is mad about something....

I would still do like 20% water changes a day to see if this helps
