i am far away from your LFS, but i want to be fair.... are you sure they
are dyed???? such specie like lemon oscar, or albino, or lutino,
they are all yellow from the start but eventually change color as
they grow up. if the lutino has a lineage of red lutino, they will turn
out to be red or orange later on.

does your orange oscar had a red eyes????? if yes, then they did not
fool around.... nobody could ever tell what color lineage is the lutino
while they are still juvenile.

my lutino tiger was white with orange stripes when i bought him. now, over a year later he is still white with orange stripes. even though him orange marking have changed over time his colour has not.

im not sure i understand what you mean by colour lineage. could you please explain what excatly you are refering to with this statement.
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!

when i made inquiry with the local breeders in my area, i was told that perhaps my tiny yellow oscar has an ancestor of lutino type, and will follow their colour lineage. possibly some pigmentation...but my spawning pair seem like a similar version of a Red Oscar,so hard to say. and maybe the little one takes after a past ancestor. that is what the colour lineage i was referring to.

my lutino was completely white with orange when i bought him, now he has a yellow tinge to half his body.
also another lutino i recently gave away has a black tinge to him.
other pets are my colt (Freddo Frog), my staffy (Tank) and my boxer x,(Steph)

lutinos with black tinges on their fins and back are usually a sign of bad breeding ( i think i read somewhere it was to much inbreeding) a similar thing happens to electric yellow cichlids(Labidochromis caeruleus) only on them it occurs around their face.

Lutino + Tiger = mixed babies, lutino and tiger. the lutino babies have the black tinge on their fins.
