Hi,
My tank that has my red lutino in it is next to a window, since I wasn't to shure if the sun would bother the fish if exposed to direct light I have been keeping the blinds closed and just using the tank lights, Also I am unshure if lutinos & albinos are more sensitive to sunlight than regular o's, any advice?
Thanks.

For a start, you can't get sunburnt through glass.

Sunlight won't bother the fish, the only thing that you will find is if your tank is quite close to the window were lots of light is coming in, the temperature of the water may go up quite a lot in the summer. You will also increase your chances of growing algae a lot quicker.

Thanks for the reply,
Does Algae have a timeframe before it appears in even the most optimum conditions? [assuming you dont regularly wipe down the glass]
For instance I noticed it just starting on the tank after about10 weeks, but now that I have had the spores, it only takes about 10-14 days for them to start up to the point where its just getting visible again.
thanks.

both of my tanks are exposed to direct sunlight. the 90 gal has 1
x 5 inches lutino and 1 x 5 regular tiger. the 110 gal has 1 x 7"
regular tiger, 1 x 5" regular tiger, 1 x15" white tiger, and 2 x 20"
pangasius. i don't see any problem with the fishes except that the
oscars' eyes are bluish at night and normal black in the morning while
the lutino always has a red eyes.

i never had algae from the time i increased the volume of my
filtering media except for the occasional green spot on the
glass which i usually scrape and just let the system do the cleaning.

my tank is located outside in a patio area.
i dont use a tank light, only natural, as i cant shut it out any way and it is plenty bright enough.

i have double the algae growth as normal but i regularly clean the glass with a cleaning magnet.

the sunlight dosnt bother my lutino at all, only in summer i turn the temp down a couple of degrees so that they dont get too hot in the harsh sun.
and also in winter i wrap the tank in a blanket to keep the heat in
other pets are my colt (Freddo Frog), my staffy (Tank) and my boxer x,(Steph)
