Hello everyone

I would like to start with adding I am completely and 100% new to Oscars. I read everything and anything i could and spoke with many so called fish experts at fish stores and some friends with some insight before i purchased my first Oscar this past Monday.

He is a tiger oscar about 2" long; black with orange markings. He sat for about 2 days when introduced to his knew home and realy moved very little. On the third day he moved some and the 4th day he has been moving and has eat some pellets finally.

Today i purchased him a tank mate. He (it) is a white Oscar with orange markings but all of his fins are black. Can anyone tell me what breed this Oscar is? The normal white tigers did not appeal to me but these ones seemed very cool; even has orange eyes. He is the same size as the other and will be added to the tank with the other tiger tomorrow (other tank is at my work in my office).

Any help on what breed this guy is?

Not sure about the black fins, the rest of the markings indicate that your fish is a Lutino Oscar. What colour are the eyes?

I will take some pictures of him next week.

He(it) is white, orange tiger stripes, orange eyes and the fins are black about 50% from the edges inward toward the fish. It is pretty aggressive for a 2" fish too.

My black tiger is very timid. Lays on the bottom all the time while the other swims like mad.

Some lutino (shops call them albino) oscars have some black colouration. I bought 2 lutinos and as they got older they started getting some of this black. One has black fins but the other has some black covering on his body as well. The best way to describe how he looks is that he looks dirty

Okay here he (it) is. Sorry for the poor picture quality but it was a zoom in from a far back shot. He really has dark colors on all his fins and bright orange eyes.

Any idea why his fins might have the tears?

Is he just a white tiger?

looks like a cross between a Lutino and a Tiger. Oscars often get tears in their fins, they normally clear up quite quickly
