Hi,
My 10-11' lutino that I bought a few weeks ago was eating well up untill yesterday, when he was still keen to feed, but even though he would swallow pellets without any problem, as soon as he crushed them, they would all get expelled through his gills.
Previously he would do this after about 7 pellets and would then either stop eating or start expelling the food, but yesterday he expelled all the food I gave him, from the first pellet [cichlid gold & tetra cichlid sticks]
A few days ago I sucked up all his flooring [it was crushed coral, & had Algae growing on it] so I could put in some fresh flooring, this didn't affect his behaviour, other than his getting a bit of interest in his reflection on the floor, other than that, his behaviour remained the same & he ate as usuall, yesterday was the first change in behaviour, all water parameters are perfect and temp is 26deg + or - 1deg.
Any ideas?
thanks.

No, the people I got him from used to give him a live goldfish occasionally, but I havn't given him any live since I got him [either crayfish or reg fish] I am reluctant to use goldfish as I don't want to disease my Oscar, if I was to do this, what sort of fish are recomended? he has a big mouth, so could take something reasonable?
Also, I have tried prawns and krill, both of which he seems to have a real dislke for, as he spits them out right away!

I really wouldn't worry too much as Adult o's can go a few days to a few weeks without eating... I would just make the food available to him/her and if eaten fine and if not then remove all excess food... Just keep an eye on your o.

You could also try night crawlers or Earth worms.. My O's love them.

nearly any insect will do... as long as it dosnt bite or sting...

you can catch them in your garden (if you have the time) or you can buy selected live foods at the LFS they usually only sell crickets, frozen bloodworm and mealworms though.

in summer i used to catch skinks (little lizards) my O's loved these and they would swim around with the tail or head sticking out.... LOL

and even the occasional fruit and veg
other pets are my colt (Freddo Frog), my staffy (Tank) and my boxer x,(Steph)
