OK i'm back with another stupid question,

a little concerned, have noticed a slimy build up accumulating on the inside of the glass of the tank, mainly near the return of the pump
its like strands of silk,
firstly ... i don't know what it is.
secondly, i am sure it is not good or healthy

thirdly, and more importantly.
any suggestions of how to get rid of it and keep it gone?
is there some water treatment i can use?
i have cleaned it when i did the water change and noticed it is slowly coming back again.

would it have something to do with the new filtration system?
as i never had this problem with the old internal pump / filters

i am not sure if what you have is a cottongy slime that
looks like a spider cobweb. i used to see that in a driftwood
but not in bare glass wall. in my experience, it doesn't bother
my fish and its gone after a while. just scrub the glass and
let the water current deliver it in the filtering system.

thanks Paul...
yes it is very much like cotton wool that has been stretched out

it is very fine strands

so it is not harmful to the fish?

still i would like to try and find a way to stop it as it is not attractive lol

i think it may be time for a total clean out 100% change
time to scrub all the stones and rocks as well, they are starting to look and feel a little slimy too.

i believe the fishes waste had something to do with it.
and i feel it is one way of fish protecting themselves
to have slimy environment in order not to hurt themselves.

what i did is just scrub the glass wall only to make it clear
and let the water current carry out the substance away to the
filter. rock and plants, i just rinse them when ever i feel
like doing it but no specific frequency.

as long as your water is in perfect parameters, you don't have
to worry about it. besides, nobody dare to clean the rocks and
plants in the wild for the fishes...

hahaha es very true

ok no worries then

i wasn't too concerned about the rocks and stones, i gave them a damn good scrub before i placed them in the tank and have only washed them once since
although i have rinsed them round in the bottom of the tank water when i have done 100% changes several times

as for the slime, i will follow your advice,
i have used the magnet glass cleaner along the glass and sure enough it was directed straight to the water extraction filter pipe ...

that is not to say it will not return, but as you say,
in the wild there would be all kinds of molds mildews and fungus
so i don't suppose it can be too harmful,
but i still wouldn't want it taking of the tank ... hehehe
