I plan to go out of town for about 10 days, if I can't find someone to feed my Oscar what should I do to keep him alive.

for 10 days I personally wouldn't do anything other than make sure the waters in good condition before you go.Do a change a few days earlier just in case anything goes wrong you don't want to run around the day you leave. its much better if you have 2 of every thing running so if your filter packs up all is not lost but that's in a perfect world. If you can get someone to feed them its far better and i would advise you leave out the right amount of food for each day (divided up into days)for that person to give. an auto feeder is a second choice and better than nothing. if not they will cope with 10 days if they are well and in good condition to start with.

ps have a nice trip and you may as well turn the light out to save electric if it on a timer cos you won't be looking at them.
Be the change that you want to see in the world.

And those poor fish wont be able to read the paper at night!

Im so lucky with a mum and wife who share the same passion for my fish,
My mum, whos 75 still comes over from Germany in the holidays to care for the dog, birds and esspecially the fish.
Handfeeding my Oscar, cutting up and weighing down the zuchini for my big plecos .Then the best part, the handfeeeding of my Spotted Gar.
Then do my plecos get 10 different brands of flakes, pellets and algae pills. and then the common tanks...
But I think with no-one around to care for my pets i'd stay home...
Our fish don't grow too big, our tank becomes too small!

i agree with marcus,

when we were in between moving houses, we left our tank at the old one for a couple of months as we had just had a baby and were still setting the other house up..

we went across and fed them every 3 -4 days.... for about 6 weeks or so, before we could move them (needed a small truck for the tank) they didnt get a single water change ( i know thats terrible) and spent the whole time in the dark, but they kept their good condition.

only thing was i lost my convict
other pets are my colt (Freddo Frog), my staffy (Tank) and my boxer x,(Steph)
