I may have hit gold with my most recent acquisition... I just purchased one Albino Tiger Oscar Cichlid and normal Tiger Oscar.

But, how do I know their sexes? I know that you will not be able to really tell their sexes until they mate, but can you tell a mating pair by their behavior?? They seem to be a pair from their bonding behavior. They are always together one above or next to the other, as if the one below were looking for refuge under the one above. Is this mating pair behavior? Could anyone help me figure out if I have found gold here??

I am afraid there's no conclusive way of sexing them, apart from removing them from the water and inspecting their sexual organs. I wish I could say to you yes you got a breeding pair. Unfortunately, until you see them laying eggs, you will not know. The problem is, two females may act exactly the same as a breeding pair so it can be quite deceptive. It's a waiting game. It'll probably be over a year before you see any activity if it's going to happen

Thanks! This is good to know. Now, I can lay back and relax and wait. See when I went to the pet shop these were the only two that were together in a school of about 10-12, so I immediately thought that would be a pair to mate. But as you stated we will just not know until it happens, if it happens at all. All my research in the past week has com to the same conclusion.
