Hi everyone,
It seems I only come here when I have a problem or a question & I apologize for that. Although, I guess that says alot about the advice I get here! Anyway...
My 10" albino oscar that I've had for about 8 months now has just started in the past 2 days having what looks almost like a "tumor" or growth in his mouth. Maybe I'm less observant than I thought or maybe it's just growing remarkably fast, but I just noticed this thing yesterday. It looks to be like a "bump" on his lower lip that's actually on the outside & goes through into the inside of his mouth/lip. It's about 1.5x the size of a green pea. It doesn't "seem" to be bothering him too much although he is keeping his moth open more than usual.
He seems to be acting ok & he's eating fine. In fact, he eats anything that hits the surface of the water, dead or alive...I don't even think he stops to see if it's edible first. The water levels are "ok". The amonia levels are still a little higher than I'd like, but they're MUCH better than they were at one time and he seems just fine (other than this growth).
I haven't posted a picture of it because, quite frankly, every picture I've ever tried to take of him sucked. I doubt I'd ever be able to get a good close up of this thing so anyone could tell what it is. (although I guess I can try tomorrow in case this doesn't sound like something someone recognizes or has heard of)
Does anyone have any idea what this might be? Please help, I can't bare the thought of something happening to him.
