TOPIC: one oscar growing faster than other?

one oscar growing faster than other? 2 years, 10 months ago #45575

i have 2 oscars in my 75 gallon tank. one is an albino oscar while the other is a tiger oscar. it seems as if one is growing faster than the other. i checked my water parameters and they are all normal. any idea as to what could cause this?

Re: one oscar growing faster than other? 2 years, 10 months ago #45576

prob main reason is one is getting more food than the other but its ok they will even out as time goes by but if it starts to look like one is not getting any food def seperate and feed till they size up but def i would start looking for a bigger tank since 75gal will be too small once they reach full size
I have lost my mind be back when I find it, maybe.

genetic... there are some oscar that grows slower than the other
because of their genetic structure. i have two oscars, given
to me by my son, one outgrow the other in the same tank.

i beleive paul has nailed it with this one. oscars like people dont all grow at the same rate or all get to the same size when mature
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!

my goal is simple a complete understanding of the universe, why it is as it is and why it exists at all

i agree with necro and paul............... but i wouldnt mind betting you the lutino/albino/white one is the slower growing tho!!!!!!

thanks for all the responses. it is the lutino/albino/white oscar growing more slowly. they feed different. the tiger oscar eats one pellet at a time and the white oscar puts like 3 in his mouth and goes to bottom of tank until he eats them then goes gets more. i believe the tiger eats more since he eats one at a time. weird!!! haha

i wondered the same thing. two months ago my red was twice the size of my tiger. two months later, they are almost the same size. and i bet in another two months one will be bigger than the other yet again.
i thought there was something wrong with the tiger, because I heard that they are supposed to grow one inch per month (which he didn't), but he has made up for it lately.
damn procrastinating oscar
Please, for my sake, change your oil!
