Hi Everyone. I'm new to board and to caring for Oscars. I got my Oscar "Fernando" two days ago and I admit that I'm a novice at all this aquarium stuff.. but unfortunately, I got him as a gift simply because "you like fish" and the guy is pretty cute so he lives in a spare 10 gallon tank I have while I buy within the next month or so a 55 gallon one and cycle it.

I've done some care research and whatnot but I just don't know what kind of Oscar it is. I went by the pet store where he was purchased and his tank just said "Oscar - 7.99" so yeah, I'm at a loss. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I would say it's probably a Lutino oscar. Looks like it's got a little bit of tiger in it by the markings. Many people actually class these as albinos. Albinos actually have no pigmentation at all, they are totally white.

thanks! yeah, I figured he must be lutino since his eyes are orange and not red due to the bloodflow and lack of pigments.. but I wasn't 100% sure. Thanks!
