can someone help me by telling me what i can feed my jack dempsey as hes not eating

Is it only the Jack that is not eating? Better check your water conditions just to make sure nothing is wrong.

What have you been feeling him? You can feed them on a similar diet to Oscars.Small pellets, bloodworm, kril, will be fine.

I'm sure somebody who actually owns a Jack will chime in with some helpful information for you

thanks for the advice ive just put some bloodworms in and hes eating them what would i do without this site ive learned a lot

my jacks eat the same thing as my oscars do only not near as much. i dont beleive thereis any special diet for them just keep it varied and healthy and they should be fine.

if you recently got your jack he still may be a little skittish. give it a bit of time and see if he starts to eat.

also my jacks dont really like comming to the surface to eat so i give them sinking pellets to be sure they do get some food.

When i had a jack, he ate the same as my oscar. Maggots, worms, prawns, cichlid pellets.

here's a great snack that i feed to our JD, get some smallish crickets and gut load them with basil and cichlid pellets until they're nice and fat and chuck a couple in. Every time the JD sees the feeding tube he goes ballistic. Careful though, you could easily overfeed these lovely fish to the point where scales pop off.

I feed mine the same diet as my Oscars. They love a treat of a nightcrawler worm every now and then too!

He's young too. He's only about 3.5 inches and he's in with a 6.5 black tiger Oscar now. They get along like best buddies. He used to be in with my red lutino Oscar and that oscar is 5 inches and the Dempsey chased him around day and night. I have no idea why he gets along with my black tiger O though...

Mine went for over two weeks without eating because I did a tank swap and decoration change... He finally ate a night crawler yesterday!! woot!

same as my oscars .but hes quite partial to a king prawn or two !!!!!!!
