I was feeding my oscar this morning and noticed bloody feces in the tank. Is there some kind of parasite that could be responsible? . Mr Stripes, however, is eating perfectly, just as lively as ever and otherwise seems fine. Should I ignore it or do something?

What sort of foods have you been feeding your Oscar?

If the fish is eating okay then it can't be feeling ill so I wouldn't worry at the moment

I've just been feeding it frozen freshwater fish, peas, pellets, algae flakes and the occasional mealworm beetle. I'll try not to worry! haha

It's not a parasite, you'd be getting white feces. It sounds to me like the frozen fish may have cut the fish's stomach. Keep your water clear, and perhaps ad some melafix, if you want (fish "breathe" it in) should remove some inflammation if there is any in the fish's stomach so nothing will clogged or stopped or what not. Keep a close eye on this guy, and be sure to keep your water parameters in optimum condition.

Are you sure its bloody faeces. What colour is the faeces, do you have a pic. If the fish is bleeding internally the blood will come out black (just like in people). The only way to get red blood in faeces is if the fish is bleeding at or very near the anus

The colour of my oscars poo depends on what it is fed. When fed hikiari cichlid gold (red pellets), its poo is red. When fed green pellets the poo is green
I can't get no sleep
