Greetings. I have a question about putting water conditioner into the tank after a water change. The water conditioner bottle tells me to treat every 10 gallons with 1 ml. Considering the tank is 150 gallons, and I removed 30 gallons thru the water change..

*after* replacing the water into the tank, do I use 3 ml only to treat the 30 new gallons of water, or 15 ml to treat the whole tank?

also, please ignore the option of treating the water before putting it into the tank. due to the location of tank and the hassle it makes it very infeasible

What does that water conditioner do? since you're only changing 30 out of the 150 I wouldnt worry about treating it at all if all your concerned about is chlorine etc in the tap water. Just keep up with your regular testing to be sure and you should be fine.

What I do is keep some water in gallon jugs ahead of time so that when I do my change most of my new water has been sitting a couple days and all the chlorine has dissipated out.

i was an unbeliever at first... i bought 3 oscars with my 55 gallon tank, thinking, "there is no way these lil' fish will get that big... 4 months later, my 3 1.5-2" o's have reached AT LEAST 6-7'... now 1 has syptoms of hith, and they are having a gladiator bout constanly... i'm told at least change 50-90% to maintain health and to rid the 1 of hith... so gone are the buckets... i bought a gallon of stress coat.

to your issue, i stress coat for the whole tank. should it only be for the change amount?

i had never use any conditioner in my entire fish keeping,
thus, could not give any hint of its importance.

but fishes could remain healthy as long as you give
them enough space, pristine water, and varied foods.

I always just treat for the amount changed... In English. I only treat the new water...

the water supplier in our area uses chloramine instead of chlorine so I must treat the water first..

If you change 30 gallons then use enough water conditioner for 30g. Add the water conditioner to your tank after removing the water but BEFORE adding the new water. Leave your filters on and wait for 5 minutes or so before adding the new water
