is this true as someone told me to take good care when doing a water change with amazon fish such as oscars as you could get an infection and terrible rash while doing it never heard anyone mentioning it on here

You've got to be careful when doing water changes. Such as making sure you use a water conditioner, make sure the water temperature doesn't fluctuate too much. As for picking up infections, not sure about that one, never happened to me. You're more likely to stress fish out which could cause problems if you don't do it properly.

OFL, I think he was talking about himself getting an infection and rash, not the fish.... Stop me if Im wrong though... and I would like to hear the answer to this as well...Though I have NEVER gotten anything and do water changes with cuts and such...

I have never had an infection from keeping fish. If you think about it, with good tank maintenance, your tank will not have much bad stuff in it. If it was likely to give us an infection imagine what would happen to your fish

However this thread will get a lot of us on here just a little bit paranoid

Nah... You know how many times I have gotten tank water in my mouth when siphoning it? Even accidentally swallowed a hint of it before... nothing happened. If your that worried about it, get some of those farmers gloves that they use to shove their arm up a cows ass!

I find that using a scrubbing pad or a tetratec glass cleaner works well when cleaning a tank. I dont think a rubber glove would be any good at cleaning algae off

sorry couldnt resist
