This is my new O' I got today [Dexter],He may not be the most showy fish out there, He's actually fairly dull I guess,No bright orange or red,But he doesn't need it, He's the most inky, Darkest black iv'e seen in an O' and he can change from pitch black to amost pure white and back again in under a minute depending on his temper, I also got him some spotted silver dollars as tankmates, Thanks noddy for confirmation on the dollars.

I don't want to worry you unduly but after looking at your Oscar a little more closely,I observed a couple of suspicious looking holes on the right-hand side of its head. I hope it's nothing more than a small injury. However, it may be very early signs of a HITH disease so please keep an eye on it on a daily basis. If they start getting worse then get back to us. In the meantime, please try and keep your nitrate levels no higher than 20 ppm at all times.

I had noticed the marks, and they look like scratches, but your the expert,if it is HITH, is there anything I can do for it other than keep the water parameters perfect, is there some sort of medicine? or would it eventually mean that the fish will die? [Assuming it is HITH]

If it is HITH then it is in its very very early stages and could be cleared up very easily if you keep your water in good condition. I've had this a couple of times myself and I've never needed to medicate a tank, just carried out appropriate water changes and it has cleared up. Most cases of severe HITH occur when people just don't bother with water changes, or feed their fish on crappy food. if you stick to good quality pellets, maybe supplement the diet things like shrimp, Krill, blood worm then your oscar will be getting a healthy diet

When mine does with the nightlights on I can see through his fins, so incredibly pale they become.

I got 4 of the dollars so far,I dont know what sexes they are, or even if I have both, is it hard to tell?

Males have a prolonged ass-fin and stay a little smaller
