What are the types of food that can be fed to an Oscar? I know that worms (what type of worms can be fed?), shrimp, feeder fish (guppy, goldfish) can be fed. But what are the pros and cons of feeding these food? I am currently feeding my Oscar Frozen bloodworms (cubes). Any advise on this as should i feed frozen bloodworms or not? Your answer will be greatly appreciated.

Oscars will readily take feeders. However, you must bear in mind that if you have bought these from a fish shop, there is a possibility they may contain diseases. A lot of these fish are treated very badly. Fish that are treated badly becomes stressed, stressed fish can develop diseases. You certainly don't want to be feeding is to Oscars.

Garden worms are fantastic food for Oscars. In the UK, we have all different types of worms. The biggest worms are the ones that you can find at night if you go out with a torch, especially on a damp night. We call them lob worms here in the UK. There are certain worms that you find in compost heap's and if you go digging in the garden, some of these are called red worms and then you have another one called a dendrabena worm. All of these are perfect for Oscars.

My Oscars love frozen bloodworm, I always defrost it. They'll go round pick everyone they can find, I think doing this is good because it gives them something to do
I may not always be right, but I am always the boss

Dont forget there are many types of cichlid pellets that can be fed to oscars. I also feed pond pellets to mine(loads cheaper than cichlid pellets)

I feed prawns to mine once a week as well (i buy the frozen cooked cold water prawns)
I can't get no sleep

I feed my O Hikari gold cichlid pellets as a staple. Then freeze dried krill and shrimp as a treat. Remember with freeze dried food you should soak it in a little tank water before you feed so it won't expand in the fishes stomach. He also gets the occasional garden worm.

O's will eat anything that fits in their mouths. Some of the following are good O food

frozen peas
Carrot's
scallops
shrimp
salmon
fruit
Insect Larvae
Crickets
Meal Worms
Earthworms

I stay away from feeder fish for the same reasons as Oscarfishlover. Also they are not a wild O's main diet. A wild O eats mostly insect larva and plants. They will eat smaller fish but it is because they are defending their territory and not because they are hungry. Feeders have little nutritional value you get much more out of a good pellet. I don't understand why so many people think it is necessary to feed an O feeder fish I guess they think it's cool.

I think the most important thing is a good balanced diet with some variety and that will keep your O happy and healthy.

I question that myself and have never tried oranges because of it. I don't know of anyone who has so I just stay away from them.
