I noticed today that my fish have been rubbing against each other... I'm pretty sure they are too young to spawn. I guess they are around 3 inches each. Any idea why they are doing this? Thanks.

Dunno about Oscar but my male Silver Dollars rub a lot.
It seems to be a test of strenght between the males.
Looks stupid though, as if they are mating.
Could be the same with Oscars but someone else here will know for sure.

When you say rubbing do you mean actually rubbing or kind of shimmering next to each other

Actually rubbing is a new one to me but shimmering is a thing oscars (and other fish) do as a form of aggression, a way of asserting domination

I mean I was right up to the tank and it looked like actual rubbing.. maybe it was shimmering.. first time I've seen this, so I'm confused.
