hi guys,
my new O' is a particularly messy eater, even if he's starting on his first pellet for the day he will sometimes "gill" his food out.
I know O's have a rep for being messy eaters, but is this level of messyness normal?
Iv'e seen other O's do this, just not so much, lucky my dollars hang around him as a clean up crew!

What I tend to do if they continue to do this is don't feed them for a day or two, in a lot of cases they will eat all the food. It may be worth a try, see how he is with other pellets as well
I may not always be right, but I am always the boss
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved

This is not unusual, especially if they are not particularly enamoured with the food. Not feeding for a couple of days, as suggested, will make them hungry. Hungry fish are less fussy than well fed fish. Only feed what they will eat in 2 minutes. Also it is a good idea not to feed them on one day a week
