My Oscar has split his bottom lip in the centre. I suspect it's from moving gravel as he's moved a lot lately.

Do I need to do anything about this or will it heal on it's own?

If you have got good water conditions then the injury should heal up by itself without the need for any medication. You should know within a week whether medication will be needed

Its good that your oscar is still eating and moving stuff. It should heal up if your water is good. Keep a close eye out for infections and if any set in add an anti-bacterial. You could add an anti-bacterial now if you wanted to just to be safe but it isnt neccessary

I haven't bought fish meds for many, many years. Is their a particular brand I should look out for?

just check the manufacturer... if it is from a reputable one
in your area, that would be acceptable. but most med are API
but why resosrt to that? keeping your water in tip top condition
will make your fish happy and healthy. prestine water and varied
foods is the first defense against any fish deseases.

The anti-bacterial I use is myxazin by waterlife (im in england) but as long as you choose a good company any will do

He'll be fine. Stuff like that usually heals up fast.

Melafix would be the first med to use if does not heal soon or if you want it to heal fast.
