Hi to all!

I had to rehome one of my O's on the weekend, can't belive i had to do it again. When i first got O's i had to black tigers but at 10 months they hit puberty and had some pretty bad fights and i had to rehome one of them, pretty sure they were both males fighting for dominance . A couple of months later i upgraded from a 4 foot to a 6 foot and add a new lutino hoping it would be a female by this stage my black tiger called Mastodon was about 10/11 inches and the lutino named Pandora was about 6/7 inches. Mastodon gave pandora a hard time at first but i made plenty of hiding spots and nothing serious happed, i guessed he was just throwing his weight around. Pandora grew up a bit and they divided the tank and hung out on seperate sides of the tank. She grew a bit more and ended up taking over the whole tank and making Mastodon stay in a corner the whole time. Although i didn't like to see the fish picking on each other it was interesting to see the how the fish that was being dominated now dominated a fish that was still a little bit larger. It was strange watching the lager oscar being held hostage in the corner by a fish he used to hassle all the time, a few fight broke out...biting, chasing, lip locking and splashing water all over my lounge room, i divided the tank a few time and reintroduced the O's and aslo tried the time out bag but the 2 never got on and Mastodon remained in the corner. Pandora was renamed Pantera! Through a local website i found a new home for Pandora(Pantera)and he left my tank in peace yesterday. Pretty sure Pandora was also a male and they were fighting to be the boss.......can you belive it 3 out of 3 males. I was also going to rehome Mastodon and stat again with 2 babies and hope they got on but i was watching him tonight, relaxed in the tank for the first time in ages and decied he is staying....had since about 2/3 inches, hes my boy! Now the only problem is making sure i dont do something stupid like bring home another O next time i see a nice big one at the shop and convince myself they will get on. I can just see me at the shop convincing myself that the odd are in my favor of getting a female.......
Ahhh the joys of fish keeping hey.

Thanx for sharing, glad you chose for the big boy.
Guess there's nothing left for you to do, but get a new 6'tank with a handfull of baby's to get yourself a couple!

When I went to buy my first O I was given the opportunity to take 5 baby-oscars to get a pair.
My LFS offered that I could take the other ones back after a couple had established.
But I just took one...
I am very attached to him but often wonder how it would have been.
I sometimes wish I had taken the whole bunch.
