Can't you find somebody who keeps small fish, or take them to the fish store, I'm sure they would take them off your hands. I'm not a great lover of flushing fish down the toilet.

Your LFS should take them or you could set up a small tank to put them in and keep it as a quarantine tank. May be give them away to someone in your area who keeps fish?

I would put 2-3 of them in the aquarium with my oscar then put the others in a spererate tank. If in a few days there are the same amount of feeders with your oscars then I would get rid of them but you should give it a chance.

If you can't get rid of them and don't wish to set up a spare tank (Though I urge you to have a spare on hand if you are feeding live because otherwise you could bring a disease to your Oscars even if the fish shows no signs of being sick) you could always humanely put them down. When my fish get uncurable disease I put them down by taking a bowl and putting a bunch of ice cubes in it and cold water. Then I put it in the freezer for 5min then pull the fish out of the tank and put them in the bowl. They are gone within seconds.

You can also try people who own turtles to try and give them to.

Not trying to start a row here but isnt it a bit cruel to put them in freezing cold water. Would it not be quicker to take them out the tank and either throw them hard on a solid floor or just stomp on them?? Instant death. I know OFL advocates clove oil. For large fish i have heard cutting the spine with a sharp knife (someone once told me he had to do this to a old 2foot koi). I would be interested to hear others ideas

I've never had a Guppy (I had show strains for a while but eventually just mixed them all because I didn't have time for doing sells and having 50 million tanks.) last more than 3 seconds and I've put down several using this method including a Betta. I personally could never cut one of my fish up nor could I ever stomp one. Putting the fish in water THEN putting it in the freezer to get cold would be cruel and I'd be very very against that. However I've never had a problem with my method and will always use it because I couldn't do anything else. I heard a story about a lady trying to kill her Betta by slaming it on the floor and ended up paralyzing it instead of killing it.

I figured if I ever had to put down one of my Goldfish or eventually my Oscar if something ever happened that I'd use Clove Oil. (Because these are much bigger fish and you'd have to have a huge freezer and a few hours to chill huge buckets of water for them not to mention getting big fish out of tanks isn't an easy task and it's easier to put them down inside their home.)

I've never had that problem. My fish simply love guppies. You should see my clown knife at night when he's hungry...

I think a decent pet shop would take them back.
