I have 2 full grown, possibly mated Oscars. I also have 2 full grown plecos, which get a zucchini every night. Also in the tank are 3 Bala sharks, 2 tinfoil barbs & 2 African cichlids. The tank is a 210 gallon.

Last night & tonight, Boscoe, my tiger, has bit me while I was putting the skewer with the zucchini in. Tonight it was a sneak attack that brought blood. How can I stop this behavior, as it isn't comfortable.

I just cleaned the tank today, but it's been several hours. As I was taking the water down, Boscoe went after the sharks, something I've never seen before.

Any advice would be appreciated. Being hit by a grown Oscar hurts.

if your oscars are sexually mature then it is possible that they may be starting their breeding ritual. i have notice an increase in aggresion in my all my south americans as the laying cycle appproaches from both the females and the males.
as for what you can do to stop it unless you want to seperate them there is very little that can be done.

Well, since I'm not inclined to separate them, I'll try diversion instead. Thank you.
