So i was wondering is it possable to over clean a oscar tank or any tank for that matter? i usually vaccum all the gravel when i do water changes removing all the shit they make and other waste from the food and take out 35% of the water in the tank when i do this which is weekly. so my question can you over clean a tank? is taking out to much waste food poop etc. a bad thing for the bacteria because the good bacteria need ammonia to thrive and im taking it all out every week or basicly almost all out which is taking out there food supply no?
some people have said only vaccum half the gravel once week and other half other week? but i do all the gravel in one shot because by the next day there will be no shortage of crap trust me aha.....can some one give me thoughts on this? wether doing half gravel or all gravel every week?

i vac all my gravel when i do my water changes. infact on my tank doing the whole bottom will result in about a 25% water change in itself. i see it like killing 2 birds with one stone.

And when It's cleaned those fish start the eating/pooping thing allover!
So i vacuum all gravel and do a 50 % wc.
Our fish don't grow too big, our tank becomes too small!

in my own opinion, no one could ever over clean their tank unless
: you have artificial fish in it; or
: you have no fish at all.

no matter how do you clean the tank, the fish will always pooh
inside your tank. moreover, vacuuming the tank will not guarantee
that you removed all bacteria living in the substrates and in the
filter media. the only way you could over clean your tank is total
flash out, and wash out of filtering system in the tap. all bacteria
will be dead and your fish too after few days

i dont think that you can overclean the tank itself but overcleaning the filter is a possibility. generally it is recommended to only vacuum half of the gravel but if you have been doing it all regularly then it shouldnt pose a problem.
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!

a vacume all the gravel and do a 50-75% water change once a week, rinse the canister sponges in tank water every 2-4wks. I always do all the gravel because honestly, he shits like a great dane! and he'll go crapping it up again before i'm even finished! i figure there is still enough good bacteria in the gravel and biofilters.

I wouldnt recommend cleaning a filter too often, however you can do as many water changes or gravel cleans as you like
