Well it really depends what type of feeder fish u want to breed. Feeder fish such as goldfish are easier to breed. Guppies are quite difficult. You can try putting the fish in a small tank with filtration and all to keep them alive. Remember to feed them bits of food too. However, I suggest not to breed these fish as they are not easy to breed. But by all means try it. And also, if you are breeding goldfish remember to cut a styrofoam cup into halves and put one half on the surface on the water. The goldfish will start blowing bubbles under the cup to make it its nest.

Im sorry but i cant imagine why anyone would want to go to the trouble of setting up a breeding tank to breed fish just to feed to Oscars. It would take a minimum of 3-4 months to grow on a guppy or goldfish to a size that would satisfy the hunger of an Oscar. Whats more you have to feed the feeder fish otherwise they wont grow. They certainly wont grow if you leave them in a small tank with no maintenance. Each fish gives of a chemical substance called a pheromone which stunts the growth of all the fish around them. The only way to counteract this so the fish grow at a reasonable rate is to change the water as often as possible. i think you would find its far too much trouble to breed your own Personally as someone who has kept fish for 35 years i would never feed another fish to an Oscar. there are far to many other foods available. And i think your talking about bettas building bubble nest at the surface

I would disagree with you there. Guppies are very easy to breed. You just can't stop them! I have to provide a steady flow of live food to feed my clown knife, and my guppies never stop breeding.Goldfish, on the other hand, take some work to breed.

You can feed him pellets, red worms, or continue feeding guppies. Whatever he likes. But do feed a staple food, something he gets mainly, and then a variety of other foods, like red worms or guppies, or whatever.
