so lately my oscar has seemed unusually agressive. a few weeks back it went 10 days without eating hardly anything, and it chased every fish in my tank around like it owed it money. then it calmed down, started eating again, and started to build what i can only describe as a nest. its dug thru 2-3" of gravel, and exposed a large area of the bottom of my tank. its CONSTANTLY attacking its own reflection, and my pleco. my convict has enough sense to get the hell away from it. the other day i was feeding and it did basically a barrel roll and i saw its belly pretty good and i see a little tube poked out a bit. i tried to take a pic and couldnt get one clear enough to see what it was in the pic... but i got a clear one today. i think its an egg laying tube??? that makes my fish a female right??? (obviously i know only female fish lay eggs) or is this male parts im seeing? i think its female. i have never seen a pic of oscar's parts like this exposed.. and its not its anus. no the fish doesnt have hemorrhoids lol. just thought id post this and see what you guys think.

my oscar always digs hole and chases his reflection as well......pretty sure mines males though. Used to have 2 tiger but they tore shreds of each other which lead me to belive they were both males so i rehomed one. Then added a smaller lutino and when it grew up fighting started againg so i rehomed the lutino....3 out of 3 males im pretty sure! bad luck for me.

well when i noticed it it was protruding more but it was just too active at the time for me to get a clear pic of it. i had to seduce it into being still long enough for the pic with food lol. it was sticking out 2-3x as far as it is in that pic. i also noticed what appeared to be a change in the profile of the fishes belly. it seems like it got fat in the rear half down just above the anal fin, and shrunk in in the front lower part a bit, i was thinking it was because it didnt eat but im not really sure. im now thinking it is gravid and needs a mate after your confirmation that it is infact a female.

lol i havent even looked. i dont have room for a boyfriend for her yet. im getting a 200g tank either this evening... or tomorrow if all goes as planned. once i get it up and running with a filtration system, and a hood with lights, and cycled, and get my girl moved to it and know its safe to add more fish, ill be getting her a boyfriend and an arrowana and a few dollars thats my plan anyways
