Hello!
I currently have 2 oscars, 2 i.d. sharks, and 2 plecos in a 75 gallon tank. One of my oscars appears to have something on the side of its body. I have a few pictures of it and was wondering if someone could help me figure out what is going on with my oscar. I have been doing some research and the closest thing I could figure out would be body fungus, however I'm still a little iffy.
If there is anyone out there who can help, please reply!!

Thank you in advance! Sorry it took so long to get pictures up...was trying to figure out how to do it.

That's what we are here for.

A photograph will be a great help, without it, we can't really help that much.

OK I see your Pic but it's not clear if it's just cuts and bruises or HITH?

Are these two photographs of the same fish? They are extremely blurred so it's a little bit difficult to make out the suspicious looking at areas. Does it look like something is growing on the skin, or are they open wounds?

Its in the area by the gills, sorry i couldn't have a better picture. I'll try to take some more. It looks like chunks are missing and then maybe a little bit of fuzz has started growing.

okay, I think your fish is suffering from hole in the head disease, and a secondary fungal infection has set in. I have to say that this is normally caused by poor water conditions, fish don't develop these sort of health problems if the water is in good condition.

Please test the water for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate & pH.

What sort of filtration have you got? How often do you carry out water changes? What do you feed your Oscar?

I have a cascade 1500, two aquaclears that are for up to 110 gallons. We did a water change (at most 50%) probably about once a week because we had got the water tested and had high ammonia, and we also siphoned it just as much. We just put on a Fluval FX5 on today. We feed the oscars "oscar show" by HBH

I'm sorry I can't get a better picture...my camera isn't good enough for a moving object.

Have you got some water testing kits? We need to know the condition of your water so we can try and help you. Anyway, very very late here in the UK, I shan't be on until tomorrow now. Goodnight
