ok well ive had my oscar for about a year. i also have a snook a fire eel and a pleco. and i only have a 55 gal. i know its really overstocked right now and i dont know want to do. i realy dont want to sell any of them. but i dont really have a choice i have a fairly close lfs that i love its family owned and they love there fish i told him my situation and he said he would sell my fish for me and give me the money. i really dont want to sell my o but it think i might.... my fire ell cost 70 $ and dont really whant to part with it and they need atlest a 45 by them selfs. and since i really like the look of a tank with plants the oscar also stopes me from that. i love my oscar but i think i might have to sell him to someone with a bigger tank. any suggestions??

What are your water conditions? Unfortunately you are grossly overstocked some problems could occur at any time. I'm not really familiar with fire eels but after a little research, it seems that they require quite a large aquarium to themselves. Obviously we are not going to order you to rehouse the fish, only you can make that decision based on your situation.Obviously if you start having problems with your fish and seek advice from us, the first thing we will say is that you are overstocked.

i no im overstocked but all my other fish are pretty small the oscars the biggest at 8 inches right noe my water conditions are perfect nitrite 0 ammonia 0 nitrate 10 ph about 7.6 im just worried about the future...

in a year or two the oscar will be double that size.

The O is going to give your tank the biggest bio load, without him the others will be much better off...much easier said than done I know but keeping the tank clean will be much easier plus you'll have healthier fish. Do you have pics? I'm not sure if I've seen a fire eel before.

I see them pretty often at one pet shop here in town. id thought about getting one but i thought it would just end up as another expensive snack for my O

Fire eel can grow over 3'! Also known to be specialized escape artists.

Tim, if you love those fish and want the best for them, but you can't part there's only one solution!
Get a larger tank!!!
I know it's very easy to say that, but it's inevitable to keep your fish healthy and/or alive!
Any possibilities for an upgrade soon?
I check all secondhand-sites all the time, looking for folks selling their tank, prior to moving!
If they're gonna move, they often HAVE to sell, and you can get a good bargain!

i would loveeeee an upgrade but im only 14 and my parents wont let me i already have 4 tanks and i cant go over a 55 gal ill post some pics soon of my tank and fish. like i said for now the bioloads fine but in a few months im going to have to make a decision.

thanx guys i think it not to bad stock wise besides haveing both the oscar and the snook because im very over filtered and all the other fish stay t words the bottum of side so ill either have to get rid of my o or my snook i just cant decide....and agian thanx for the replys on my pics. my tanks my life!!! everything has to be perfect!!
