AsI can't get my Oscar to eat pellets, I was wondering if feeding crushed Hikari-pellets to my mealworms would get some of the vitamins into my O?
Strange idea maybe, but if the worms don't process the pellets, it may work.
The mealworms love the pellets, I allready tried.
Any ideas?
Will this work???

Hey Noddy

I too tried to feed mealworms pellets, but their mouths aren't designed to take in very dry foodstuffs, mealworms prefer damp or wet stuff like potatoes or peas. What you could try is soaking the pellets until they're mulch and then try. But the best live food you can 'gut load' are still crickets.

I usually feed them whitebread but that will cloud the water.
I crushed the pellets, and they immidiatly started eating and have't stopped...
The stupid crickets are escape artists and last time i fed those, i had that stupid chirping all night long for several weeks.!!!
Drove me crazy.

that is why whenever i catch some crickets in my garden, i immediately
removed the small portion of the hind so that they can no longer jump

regarding the vit C, you can crush or grind it together with the shrimp
or beefheart, then froze it in cubes. your o will be happy gulping them.

but i am not comfortable with that because i am not sure what dosage is
safe for my fishes. 1000 mg for human but what about fishes?

Dunno if Vit C gets out of a fish'system when the maximum dose is reached.
In humans it does so.

vit c is excreted through kidneys and passes during urination with people and animals--I'm sure that includes fish.

of the time, it is solid hanging under the anus...i don't
know if that was a sign of diarrhea.
