Hi all,

We have two 6-8 month old Oscars that all in all get along pretty well. However we have noticed our tiger Oscar, Muppet, really likes to eat our Albino Oscar's poop!!! It is even to the point where he chases and harasses the other Oscar around the tank to grab some.

We give them a variety of foods including cichlid dinner and pellets. They are not underfed by any means. Has anyone else seen this behaviour in Oscars? Is this a result of their food being only being partially digested?

This is certainly not uncommon behavior for fish. I haven't noticed my Oscars doing it, but my Juripari often like to feast on a great big Oscar turd . I shouldn't worry, no harm will come to any fish that eats another fishes poo
I may not always be right, but I am always the boss

dont worry about this. Oscars have poor digestive systems so their poo is actually nutrious. We usually hear about other fish eating oscars poo but this is the first time i have heard an oscar doing it. Seeing as how greedy oscars are i am not surprised though
I can't get no sleep

never seen the O's or GT eat poo, but i believe that my 6" syno catfish eats oscar poo.
he has to, because there is never any left on the sand. i have even seen it swimming underneath the Oscars looking for fresh ones
Please, for my sake, change your oil!

Ow, disgusting thread!
In my tank it's the SD's cleaning up after my O!
They help me out nicely, but it looks disgusting!
Our fish don't grow too big, our tank becomes too small!
